Paper Mountain – #Flash4Storms

Paper Mountain – #Flash4Storms

October 3, 2017 Off By Lisa

On Tuesday, I usually run a flash fiction written in response to the weekly prompt from Charli Mills over at Carrot Ranch Communications. Weekly flash fiction prompts are taking a break in the barn for the time being as we kick off this month’s Flash Fiction Rodeo over at the ranch.

I still have a little flash fiction today, but inspired by a prompt that comes via Sarah Brentyn, a fellow blogger at Lemon Shark and Rough Writer at Carrot Ranch. For each flash posted in response to her prompt on the theme of “help,” Sarah will donate $1 to hurricane relief to help the victims of several recent hurricanes. Read Sarah’s post here for details regarding how to participate. If you’ve been thinking about trying some flash fiction, this is a great opportunity to start and help others in the process.

My story this week is inspired by Sarah’s theme of help…and my terribly burdened desk.

The mountain loomed large, threatening every moment to topple before her. Better it fall in front of me, she thought, than more dangerously aside, only to disappear from both sight and awareness.

What hope did she have of conquering this unfinished mass of paperwork?

Focus. Forward. Help comes from within.
