Ten Things of Thankful – Better Late Than Never (Again)

September 22, 2013 Off By Lisa

Two weeks ago, I got my TToT in just under the wire.

One week ago, I thought about my TToT list a lot, but never actually wrote it. So I had to ride the wave of thankful happiness all this week.

This week, here I am again, right up at the edge of the weekend, with no TToT list ready. Yet. But I am determined.

And so, here is my list of things to be thankful for lately…

1. I am thankful that we have the “problem” of having so many veggies in the refrigerator that we can’t quite figure out what to do with them. I am always aware that there are those who do not have enough to eat every day and those who are not able to provide fresh, healthy options for their family.

2. I am thankful that today is the first day of fall. There is no question that fall is my favorite season and the season of my soul. Love.

3. I am thankful that Kidzilla is just as excited about the start of fall as I am. I love when we share an interest in things – whatever it happens to be. All week, we’ve been counting down. We hung our autumn door wreath, amidst serious discussion about which part of the wreath was the top. For the rest of the week, we will be swapping out other small items of home décor…candles, bathroom towels, table centerpieces, etc. Next weekend we head to our favorite pumpkin patch for their fall festival.

4. I am thankful that Andrea thought my blog was cool enough to talk about it here on her blog. And Andrea’s blog is awesome – at least I think so. Go give her a read. You’ll come back for more. Oh, and this is for Andrea – I totally think “Heartfelt” is a great category for blogs and I love being in that one.

5. I am thankful for a wonderful (and exhausting) day spent hiking and exploring on Saturday with Kidzilla and the Fab Hub. Fresh air, exercise, and time together was the best way to spend the day after a long school week.

6. I am thankful that Kidzilla did well in her first full week of full day Kindergarten. Like any new Kindergartener, she’s experiencing her share of adjustment bumps in the road, but she’s coming along just fine.

7. I am thankful that I got to take a short nap this afternoon. Alone. I love Zilla and the Fab Hub beyond explanation, but sometimes a Mommy just needs a nap. Zilla wanted to go to the playground, so they took off and left me alone in the quiet, sunny afternoon. Even the cats left me to my solitude and didn’t stomp all over me while I tried to rest. I am thankful for that as well.

8. I am thankful for the soreness in my legs today. Really. It reminds me that I am physically able to participate in things that I enjoy. Lots of people aren’t able to enjoy physical activity for so many reasons. And while my muscle soreness today is probably the result of a little bit of overzealousness yesterday, it still means I have the ability to move.

9. I am thankful that the sinus headache I had this morning is gone.

10. I am thankful that the Fab Hub is a patient man. He’s waiting to watch some Big Bang Theory but he’s letting me finish this post. He knows writing here is something I enjoy and is really good for me in much the same way as writing music is for him.

11. Tossing in a bonus here…I’m thankful that I have about twenty more things I could put on this list.

Come back and read again this week…I have the Soup of the Week post almost ready to go and a post about our hiking adventures this weekend in the works – complete with photos.

Hope your week is off to a great start!
